You will have to follow the link to find out more on each one.  There are so many attractions in our area, that adding all the details would have made this 8 pages long.   If I did miss any Haunts, please let me know.  The following list is in alphabetical order.

Whether you spell it ‘Oktoberfest’ or ‘Octoberfest’, you can find a celebration somewhere in Northeast Wisconsin.  More than 40% of Wisconsin residents report that they are partly or fully German, which means this is the most common heritage in our state and we know how to celebrate it the right way.   So, grab your beer stein and let yourself enjoy the German brews, the sights of lederhosen, the smell of bratwurst and the sounds of the German musik at one of the following events!

(If there are any other Oktoberfest celebrations, just email me at with the details and I will add it! Thanks.)

🍺 Appleton Octoberfest – September 28th-29th.  Octoberfest weekend kicks off with License to Cruise, a classic car show on Friday night at 6pm. Complete with about 400 classic cars, live music and great food, you won’t want to miss one of Appleton’s largest car shows.

On Saturday, come to Appleton’s largest block party. Music starts as early as 9am, the full band line up is available on the music page. Arts and Crafts and the Family Fun area are also available at 9am.  And, don’t forget about all the great food booths; local not-for-profits put in a lot of time and hard work to raise money for their organizations during this one day event.

🍺 Crivitz Oktoberfest – September 15th from 11am-11pm.   German Food, Bier, Games & Live Musik! The Tapping of the Keg at 11:00am.  Bratwurst, Kielbasa, Weisswurst & Wieners from Pelkin’s Smokey Meat Market in Crivitz.  Domestic & German Imported Beers to try and enjoy.  For the kids….  Pumpkin Decorating Contest, Bouncy Houses, Face Painting & Much More!  And back by popular demand for the Adults…  Fraulein’s Beer Stein Race, Starken Mann Stein Hoistin Contest, Yodeling Contest, Sauerkruat Eating Contest.

🍺 Crooked Lake Oktoberfest – October 13th from 11am-11pm. There will be an outdoor craft market, free pumpkin decorating for the kids, free hayrides, minnow races for young and old, the traditional Beer Garden, Live music by Whitey and more.

🍺 Kohler Falls Oktoberfest – September 7th-8th.  Enjoy a Sheepshead Tournament (a centuries-old European card game), a Cornhole Tournament, Oktoberfest 5K Run/Walk, the Oktoberfest Beer Olympics and fun inflatables for the kids. Live German music and food complete the experience, with traditional instruments like flugel horns, Austrian oval tenor horns accordion and more.

🍺 Neenah – Lion’s Tail Oktoberfest – September 14th-15th.  The event will be hosted on the brewery grounds in the shadows of Downtown Neenah’s Historic Clocktower and will feature live music including original music from some of the area’s best bands along with a couple traditional polka bands. There will be traditional festival games for you to compete against your friends and neighbors and a food court featuring some fall festival favorites from several local restaurants. But the star of the show will be the Oktoberfest Marzen Lager along with a selection of German-style draught beers brewed by Lion’s Tail and other local breweries. Plan on entering the Stein Holding contest and wear your traditional Oktoberfest garb to compete for the Best Dressed Award. The gates will open Friday 3pm and Saturday at Noon.

🍺 Oshkosh Oktoberfest – September 15th from 11am-11pm.  Come and enjoy great German music, German dancers, German food, and German Culture. Sign up for the 2K Bier Run or watch the Running of the Weiner Dogs.  If you are feeling competitive, then make sure to compete in the Oktoberfest Olympics.

🍺 Shawano Octoberfest – October 6th from 9am-4pm.  Free live music, Food, Crafts, Vendors, Kids activities and fun.

🍺 Oktoberfest in Sheboygan at Al & Al’s Stein Haus – October 5th-6th.  Every year, the family-owned restaurant hosts an incredible Oktoberfest celebration offering authentic German entertainment and brews and eats like bratwurst, German potato salad, sauerbraten, goulash and more. Saturday morning features the popular Wiener Dog Races, a fun costume and race contest that benefits the Humane Society, and the rest of the day is filled up with even more food and drink and some of the best entertainment around!

🍺 Waupaca Oktoberfest – August 31st from 4:30pm-9pm.  Tickets $10 in advance $12.50 at the door (includes beer and or wine sampling) available at Waupaca Area Chamber or from a Rotarian. 16 Craft beers to try. German food available on site.

FREE Donut Day

FREE Donut Day

National Donut Day is Friday June 1st. YUM!

National Donut Day was originally established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. The celebration is traditionally held on the first Friday of June. The women, dubbed “Doughnut Lassies” are often credited with popularizing the doughnut in the United States when the troops returned home from war.

Many donut shops like to celebrate this day by giving away free donuts.  Here are just a few for our area!

🍩 Krispy Kreme – Whether it’s powdered, filled or a hot Original Glazed®, stop in for a free doughnut from Krispy Kreme. In honor of National Doughnut Day, on Friday, June 1, stop in to any Krispy Kreme US or Canadian location for a FREE doughnut of any variety–including its world famous Original Glazed® doughnut.

🍩 Dunkin’ Donuts – Dunkin’ Donuts will celebrate National Donut Day by offering guests a Free classic donut with any beverage purchase.  The offer is good all day on June 2nd at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants. Find your closest Dunkin’ Donuts.

🍩 Manderfield’s Home Bakery – Get a Dozen Donuts on Friday for only $8.95!

🍩 Uncle Mike’s Bakery – Salvation Army staff and volunteers will distribute free original recipe donuts from 7am – 11am and there will be free coffee for veterans.  Also, Uncle Mike’s will donate $2 to The Salvation Army for every dozen donuts sold that day and match customer donations collected in the red kettles.

🍩 Kwik Trip – Stop in to get one FREE Glazer Donut with your Kwik Rewards card!

🍩 Walmart: Get one free glazed doughnut at all Walmart stores Friday. The retailer expects to give 1.2 million doughnuts Friday.
