Over the course of a relationship, date nights go through many stages: from romantic and adventurous to cheap and stuck-in-a-rut.  We’ve all been there! It’s hard to carve out that extra time on a regular basis for each other but having fun, trying new things, connecting and quality time are all necessary for a successful relationship.

So, whether your relationship is new or you have been together for a while, these are refreshing and fun ideas that you can enjoy together throughout the year! Do you have an idea for our list? Email it to northeastwiactivities@gmail.com.

 


 

✨ Dinner & a Movie – a classic idea!

 

✨ Bowling –  There are bowling alleys all over our area! Add in some food, drinks and a little wager and it makes for a great date. ?

 

✨ Comedy Club – We have three great ones around Northeast WI.  Oshkosh gives us the Backlot Comedy House, De Pere gives us Comedy City and Appleton has Skyline Comedy Cafe, all great for some big belly laughs and snorts!!

 

✨ Breweries – Northeast WI has an quite the history of making and drinking beer.  Check out a brewery and find out more!

 

✨ Wineries – Find a great list right on our website of area Wineries!

 

✨ Sports Games – We have some phenomenal area sports teams that love our support and are much cheaper than a Packers Game Ticket!  Check out the Green Bay Blizzard, the Green Bay Gamblers, the Wisconsin Herd, the Timber Rattlers, the Fox Cities Ice Dogs, the DePere Deacons or the Green Bay Bullfrogs!  All great teams to watch throughout the year!

 

✨ Drive In Theaters are a perfect summer night out and you can find one in Door County, Chilton, Shawano and Freedom!

 

✨ Fishing – something you can do all year round! (Free Fishing weekends are January 19-20, 2019 and June 1-2, 2019)

 

✨ Escape Rooms are the new and trendy thing and FUN!  There is one in Appleton. There are two in Green Bay, Escape Room Green Bay and Green Bay Escape. One in Oshkosh and Manitowoc.

 

✨ Volunteer Together! It can help you reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose.  It will improve your health and happiness and we all need more of that!

 

✨ Horseback Riding – Saddle up and take in the beautiful scenery of Northeast WI. It’s a great way to enjoy a date!

 

✨ Hike a Trail in Northeast WI, we have plenty to choose from.

 

✨ Check out a Concert – We have plenty of big names that come to our area all year long.  Sometimes spending that extra money to see one of your favorite singers is well worth the experience and creates priceless memories.

 

✨ Go to the Beach!  During those hot summer days, pack up the cooler with snacks and drinks and head to a local beach and relax.

 

✨ Theaters are a great night out.  Add a dinner before or after the show and you have a great date!

 

✨ Picnic at a Park is a simple but significant way to spend a date.

 

✨ Create & Paint – Want to learn how to paint or create something specifically you?  Check out our list of area art places.

 

✨ Local Music or Karaoke is always a popular date night!

 

✨ Shooting Range – There are indoor and outdoor ranges all over Northeast WI and are a great self confidence builder.

 

✨ Take a Dance Class – Step outside the box and learn something new.  This is a great idea to help rekindle the romance…

 

✨ Skiing – Explore a ski hill, then cozy up in a comfy resort and have some hot cocoa.

 

✨ Tubing/Sledding Hills – Enjoy the exhilaration of flying down a hill together!

 

✨ Take a Yoga/Exercise Class, it’s a great way to motivate and encourage each other and it’s gets those endorphins going….you know those good endorphins!

 

✨ Take that date to an Art Gallery and enjoy the conversations that the different art pieces bring.

 

✨ Barlow Planetarium – Take in the night sky under the dome! Very romantic.

 

✨ Go to a Zoo – Life is already a zoo, that’s why we should all take an hour or two and visit one.

 

✨ Check out a local Museum and take in the history that it offers.

 

✨ Netflix and Chill – Get some delivery, make some popcorn or snacks and grab the remote. Snuggle into each other and binge watch some movies or get caught up on a favorite TV show.

 

✨ Go out for Ice Cream!

 

✨ Strawberry Picking in the Summer is a great time to slow down, enjoy the day and some fresh strawberries.

 

✨ Learn all about Maple Syrup in late winter/early spring.  There are always workshops or classes that will be available.

 

✨ Apple Orchards in the Fall are another time to slow down and enjoy the act of picking apples and just being together and maybe baking some new apple recipes.

 

✨ Pumpkin Patches and Corn Mazes make for a great date in the fall.

 

✨ Give your date day/night a little challenge with a session of Paintball.

 

✨ Test your Smarts at Trivia Night.  Go at it as a team or take a chance and battle each other.

 

✨ Ice Skating is always a fun date idea especially when holding hands gliding across the ice is involved.

 

✨ If skating outside isn’t your thing, then try some Roller Skating.

 

✨ Cave Exploring in the Summer and Fall is exciting.  Just be ready to get a little dirty together.  Check out the caves in Maribel or in Chilton.

 

✨ Farmer’s Markets are a great way to spend time together and help support your local community.

 

✨ Community or High School Plays are a great date night and you are helping support the community theater and local schools.

 

✨ Try to find some new old treasures at the local Flea Markets in our area.

 

✨ We are always looking for that one piece that is going to be worth millions, so why not take that special someone with you and look together at Estate Sales or Auctions.

 

✨ Explore one of the many lakes or rivers in a Kayak or Canoe.  Just don’t forget the sunscreen.

 

✨ Add some Adventure to your date and try something new in Northeast WI.

 

✨ Go to a Driving Range and hit some Golf Balls, take on some Mini Golf or try the real thing and head to a local Golf Course! ⛳

 

✨ Since we live in Northeast WI, there are opportunities to take some factory tours of cheese plants or even the farms where that milk came from.

 

✨ Check out some Real Estate Open Houses. Always fun to dream about the future or get ideas for the next remodel.

Have you explored your creative side lately?  There are so many options throughout Northeast WI to get in touch with your inner artist.  You may not think of yourself as creative, but we can all show our artistic flair in different ways.

There are several places that not only offer classes for Canvas Paintings but Jewelry Making, Mixed Media Creations, Pottery, Ceramics, Wood Sign Painting and so much more.  Many places have kids classes as well so you can help them enjoy their creative side.  There is no experience necessary and most classes are designed for beginners, but still engaging for all skill levels.  Just bring a sense of humor and an open mind and see where your creative side will take you.

 

AlgomaClay on Steele (221 Steele St.)  Clay on Steele is very “hands on”, with 8 potters wheels and all the equipment needed for hand building. The staff is ready, willing and able to teach and foster the creative talents of those in and around the community, who have a desire to create. All are invited… at any skill level!

 

AppletonPinot’s Palette (226 E. College Ave.)  “Paint. Drink. Have Fun.”  At this studio, anyone can be an artist and have fun being creative -no art experience required! In two or three hours you can create a festive, whimsical and colorful painting while sipping on your favorite beverage. They want to help you celebrate a fun night out, a special date night, birthdays, bachelorette parties, anniversaries or any other private parties!

 

AppletonThe Fire (230 E. College Ave.)  This studio offers people of all ages the opportunity to explore their creative side by painting pottery, creating mosaics, fusing glass, or making jewelry with precious metal clay.

 

Brillion – Kreative Knotts (210 N. Main St.)  They offer private sign making workshops, to create your own custom wood signs with friends. All supplies provided  including pre-assembled reclaimed pine boards (approx. finished sign size 14″x24″).

 

CrivitzPioneer Road Pottery (509 Henriette Ave.)  They offer hand made pottery, classes, and ceramic supply.  They are open Wed-Sat 10-4.

 

DePereHello Lemon Studio (609 George St.)  Go in during open studio hours to choose from a wide variety of items to create the craft of your choice!  No need for an appointment, just walk right in! There will be someone available during this time to answer your crafting questions. If you are looking for a step-by-step instructed project, sign up for one of our classes or book a private party.

 

DePerePaintin’ Pottery (520 George St.) A hands-on art studio offering a variety of creative experiences such as pottery painting, mosaic, glass fussing, and beading projects.

 

DePerePass the Paint/Pass the Wine (353 Main Ave.)  They hold this class the 2nd & 4th Sunday of every month.  For the small price of $20, you’ll be supplied with a canvas, paint, brushes and a bottomless glass of wine (or soda).  You will be painting for about 20 minutes at a time, then SWITCHING canvases!  It’s improvised collaborative painting.  No experience necessary!  Also, you don’t have to drink, if you want to paint “dry” it’s only $10.  For an additional $10 charity donation, you can take your painting home with you (Otherwise they are displayed magnificently on the walls of the Green Room).

 

Fish CreekPeninsula School of Art (3900 County Rd. F)  Workshops and Art classes for adults and children at all levels in all visual arts media – from novice to advanced and from watercolor to sculpture. Get creative!

 

Fish CreekHands On Art Studio (3655 Peninsula Players Road)  This is a do-it-yourself Door County Destination, offering patrons a freewheeling walk-in art experience, no reservations needed.  Each artist (person working ona project) pays a low art pass fee of $7.  This pass is good all day for all five studio spaces, which total 8,000 square feet of fun. You as the artist can choose from a large variety of art projects including fused glass, jewelry, metal sculpture, mosaics, spin art and a wide selection of wood, metal and ceramic pieces to paint.  The average range of project prices are $10-40$.

 

Fox Valley AreaPaint U Something (Fox Cities)  There are canvas workshops for both children and adults or have a workshop right in your home for a party or event. She also paints and sells many different unique items, you can even hire her to paint you a beautiful wall mural in your home.

 

Green BayPalette & Pub (844 Willard Dr. #4) Check out their Calendar and pick a class.  A talented artist will guide you through each step of the featured painting. They provide all the materials you will need, including a 16 X 20 canvas, paint, brushes, and an apron. You will leave the session with your own masterpiece!

 

Green BayThe ARTgarage (1400 Cedar St.) The ARTgarage houses exhibits, classes, performances and many special events, all geared to celebrate the arts in the community and the artist in all of us.

Green Bay – Board & Brush (235 N. Broadway)  Their goal is to turn you into a ‘woodworking master’ by encouraging you to understand and appreciate the beauty of raw materials……the wood, the knots, the color variations and the simple imperfections that will make your wood sign unique.   Distressing, sanding with the grain and staining are a few of the important steps they will guide you through to make your décor piece one that will look as though it has been with you for years….like a vintage heirloom.

KimberlyCreative Juices Artisan Shoppe (309 E. Kimberly Ave.)  Their motto is “Get your creative juices moving”, perfect for finding your creative side! They offer classes in Knitting, Crocheting, Stamping, Scrapbooking, Beading and more! Make sure to visit their website and calendar of events and try something new.

 

ManawaThe Winemaker’s Daughter (327 S. Bridge St.)  This Winery and Tasting Bar has many painting opportunities/events that are held here. Check out their calendar of events and sign up.

 

ManitowocHeart & Homestead (909 S. 8th St.) They offer great DIY classes to be your best creative self.

 

Manitowoc – Picasso & Pub (1001 S. 8th St.)  Their mission is to provide customers with an enjoyable experience that will help them create a one-of-a-kind painting they created themselves as well as a relaxing environment, good beverages, great company, and mouthwatering snacks.

 

Menominee, MIPrickly Pear Studio & Ceramic Cafe (625 1st St.)  Prickly Pear offers walk-in pottery and glassware painting, classes using various mediums, local art and the best cupcakes in town.  Open Tuesday-Saturdays.

 

NeenahRooster Dreams Visual Arts (124 W. Wisconsin Ave. Ste 235)  They offer art classes for kids, adults, seniors, home schooled population, birthday celebrations, social gatherings, therapy and for fun!

Northeast WICookies & Canvas (throughout Northeast WI) Cookies and Canvas is a great event for ages 5 and up.  not only instructs but also instills confidence in budding artists! Painting and socializing over cookies while your artwork has a little time to dry is just perfect! Parents are welcome to join painting a memory with their child or observe their young artist in the creative process.
