National Donut Day is Friday June 1st. YUM!
National Donut Day was originally established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. The celebration is traditionally held on the first Friday of June. The women, dubbed “Doughnut Lassies” are often credited with popularizing the doughnut in the United States when the troops returned home from war.
