February is a popular date month, especially with Valentine’s day just around the corner. Since there are 29 days in February, why not have 29 date ideas?! There’s even something to do every day if you have time for that but it can sometimes require a bit of coordination and pre-planning!

So, if you are looking for inspiration on creating and planning a great date night, read on for 29 ideas (for Valentine’s Day and beyond!) in and around Northeast WI.

1.)  Take your honey to one of two amazing performances at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts:

2.) Have an Ice Skating Date and make sure to hold hands!

3.) Head to an Arcade for a throwback date night. Try Pixels Arcade in Oshkosh, Edge VR Arcade in Green Bay, Player 2 Arcade in Appleton or Aunt Ethel’s in DePere.

4.) Get locked into an Escape Room.  There is one in Appleton. There are two in Green Bay, Escape Room Green Bay and Green Bay Escape. One in Oshkosh and Manitowoc.

5.) Museums and Art Galleries are a great cultural choice.

6.) Try a little skiing and cozy up in the resort lounge after to warm up.

7.) Enjoy the exhilaration of flying down a hill together while Sledding or Tubing!

There’s not much left of 2019! Winter Break is coming and it won’t be long before you start hearing “I’m Bored” and “There’s nothing to do”.  Here is a quick and easy list of things to do in Northeast WI to keep those kids busy and create some lasting memories.

 

1.)  Still time to see the amazing WPS Garden of Lights at Green Bay Botanical Garden or around the area with our guide.

2.) Try Rollerskating! – There are Roller Rinks throughout Northeast WI.

3.) Check out a Kids Museum!  These are educational, fun and spark their imaginations.  Not to mention this keeps the kids busy for hours!

4.) What about a Movie?  Take those kids out to see a movie on the Big Screen either during prime time or catch a matinee. (especially when we have $5 Tuesdays at Marcus Cinemas)

5.) Find a Bowling Alley and get some strikes and have some laughs!

6.) Find an Ice Skating Rink! There are plenty of either Indoor or Outdoor Rinks in our Area.

7.) Race down a hill on a sled or tube.  Many Tubing hills have started making their own snow.  Just call before going to make sure they are open.

8.) Skiing – Call ahead to make sure your ski hill is open and then hit the slopes.

9.) Find some fun at local kid friendly places like Badger Bouncers, Xtreme Air, Get Air, Sir Bounce Alot, Chuckee Cheese, Monkey Joe’s, Funset Blvd., Badger Sports Park and others.

10.) Learn new things at local Museums!

11.) Get a head start on spring cleaning and have the kids pick out 5 or ten toys they can donate.

12.) Make it a Crafts and Arts Week.  Pinterest is Amazing!

13.) Visit the Zoo and see what the animals are doing over Winter Break!

14.) See the Stars at the Barlow Planetarium.

15.) Take in a Green Bay Gamblers Hockey Game.

16.) Nature Centers! Take a Hike, plan a scavenger hunt or bird watch!

17.) Hot Cocoa Party with all the fixin’s and invite some friends.

18.) Build a Fort and Get Cozy.

19.) Nerf Gun Battles are a standard in our house and are always Epic!

20.) See all the Amazing Aircraft at the EAA Airventure Museum and watch the kids go crazy and learn in the kids area! Be prepared to stay there for a few hours.

21.) Take those kids and Volunteer!  Food Pantries, Humane Societies and so many other non profits could use a few volunteers!

22.) Indoor Pools at the local school or hotel are open usually for a small fee or go all out and hit up the Indoor Water Park at the Tundra Lodge in Green Bay!

23.) Tour the Frozen Tundra, Lambeau Field and check out the Packers Hall of Fame. #GoPackGo

24.) Find your Local YMCA and get into some fun and fitness.

25.) Let your kids Paint a masterpiece! Many of the places that offer adult painting classes, also offer kids classes.

26.) Bake, Bake, Cook! Kids love helping in the kitchen. It can be a bit messy but is so much fun and creates some great memories for those little ones.

27.) Don’t forget about the New Year’s Eve fun throughout our area, just for kids!

29.) National Railroad Museum in Green Bay is an awesome place to check out especially for all those train loving kiddos!

30.) Visit your Local Library – They have all kinds of things going on from crafts and arts to storytimes, to even showing some great movies and it’s all FREE!

Few activities in winter compare to Ice Skating outdoors.  Nothing beats the exhilaration and fun of gliding across the ice, the wind on your reddened cheeks while taking deep breaths of cold, fresh air.  Not to mention, this is great exercise and a perfect way to let the kids burn off the extra energy they seem to have in the winter.

With all the snow, it’s time to head for the Hills! The Tubing and Sledding Hills, that is. Flying down these snow covered hills is simply fun especially when you do it with your kids.   Tubing and Sledding are not about the hot spots, but about the adventure, the fun, and the memories!

Here are some of the favorite tubing and sledding spots in Northeast WI.

 

TUBING HILLS WITH AND WITHOUT TOW ROPES

❄️ Triangle Sports Area in Green Bay – (Will open when enough snow has fallen) Hours: Monday-Friday 4:30-7:45 p.m., Saturday & Sunday 11:30 a.m.-7:45 p.m.  Fees: Tow rope $3.50 per person, all ages. Tow ropes close at 7:45 p.m. gates at 8:00 p.m. daily innertube rental $2.50 (limited supply). Call 920-391-3670 for hill conditions.

❄️ Ariens Hill at Titletown Park in Green Bay – Open Date to be announced soon! Hours: (Mon-Fri) 3:30pm-9pm, (Sat/Sun & school break) 10am-9pm, Holiday/Gameday (unless otherwise noted) 10am-9pm.  Tubes will be given with the price of admission.

❄️ Oconto Falls Tubing Hill in Oconto Falls – (Open when enough snow has fallen) Hours: Saturday and Sunday from 1pm-4pm for tow rope.  Bring your own tube. Admission is FREE

❄️ Winter Park in Kewaunee – Park hopes to open by Christmas break! Hours: Saturday 10am-8pm and Sunday 11am-5pm. Fees: $8/person (2 hours), $35 Family Rate (2 hours-up to 5 people)

❄️ Calumet County Park Tubing Hill in Hilbert – Hours: Saturday and Sundays 11am-4pm.  Fees: $6.00/person + deposit. (You must rent a tube).  You can also call the 24 hour Parks Activity Line at 920.849.1494 to obtain the latest recorded information. They do close when the wind chill reaches -20 degrees.

Over the course of a relationship, date nights go through many stages: from romantic and adventurous to cheap and stuck-in-a-rut.  We’ve all been there! It’s hard to carve out that extra time on a regular basis for each other but having fun, trying new things, connecting and quality time are all necessary for a successful relationship.

✨ Bowling –  There are bowling alleys all over our area! Add in some food, drinks and a little wager and it makes for a great date. ?

✨ Comedy Club – We have three great ones around Northeast WI.  Oshkosh gives us the Backlot Comedy House, De Pere gives us Comedy City and Appleton has Skyline Comedy Cafe, all great for some big belly laughs and snorts!!

✨ Breweries – Northeast WI has an quite the history of making and drinking beer.  Check out a brewery and find out more!

✨ Sports Games – We have some phenomenal area sports teams that love our support and are much cheaper than a Packers Game Ticket!  Check out the Green Bay Blizzard, the Green Bay Gamblers, the Wisconsin Herd, the Timber Rattlers, the Fox Cities Ice Dogs, the DePere Deacons or the Green Bay Booyah!  All great teams to watch throughout the year!

It is that magical time of year, Snow will be here soon and Christmas is only 1 month away!  In between visiting Santa, Christmas Shopping, Decorating your tree and everything else, make sure to set some time aside to see some of these AMAZING, MUST SEE Holiday Lights!

⭐ WPS Garden of Lights at Green Bay Botanical Garden in Green Bay.

Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays | 5–9 pm

November 29–December 1,  December 5-8,  December 12-15,  December 19-22

Thursday, December 26–Monday, December 30 | 5–9 pm

Family Nights: Thursdays December 5, 12 & 19 from 5pm-9pm.  Children 12 & under in the same household receive FREE walking admission with one paid adult.

Wagon rides are every night from 5pm-7pm.

Free Community Nights from 5pm-9pm on December 3, 6, 10, 17 & 25.

Drive thru this Lighted Park and enjoy the thousands of twinkling lights, the 100-foot tree and sculptured scenes to the animated light displays.  Be sure to bring your camera for some great photo opportunities especially with Santa and his Reindeer.  More details can be found here.


 

⭐ Winter Wonderland of Lights at Holtwood Park in Oconto.

November 29th thru January 5th, every day, from 5pm-11pm.  This is free, Cars are permitted but walking is encouraged.  View over 150 lighted displays, sponsored by area businesses and organizations, throughout the park from the comfort of your car. Pack the car with hot chocolate and cookies and make this your new family tradition.


 

⭐ Delightfully Calumet Holiday Light Show at Hobart Park in Chilton.

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in December from 5pm-9pm.

Free entry to the Light show is given with a non-perishable food item per vehicle.  All food donations will benefit local food pantries.


 

⭐ Fond du Lac Lakeside Lights Show at Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac.

November 28th thru December 31st from 5pm-11pm everyday!

Tune your car radio to 87.9.  The show is free but donations are greatly appreciated.  Snacks are available for purchase at the snack cabin!


 

⭐ Making Spirits Bright Event at Evergreen Park in Sheboygan.

November 29th – December 31st nightly from 5pm-9pm.  (Closed on December 24th).  The event is presented by the Rotary Clubs of Sheboygan County with the objective to collect pantry items for the Sheboygan County Food Bank.  Admission is free, but a donation of pantry items is requested. Visitors can drop off their donations as they enter the park.

Nearly 325,000 individual lights have been incorporated into dazzling displays and choreographed to holiday music along the 1.1-mile-long forested route. New displays have been added and perennial favorites have been enhanced creating a new experience for this year’s visitors.


 

⭐ Lights in Lincoln Park, 211 Riverside Dr. in Manitowoc

November 29th thru December 14th,  Thursdays thru Saturdays from 5pm-8pm.

December 19th thru 28th ~ Every night from 5pm to 8pm each night.

Drive thru this brilliant display of lights and enjoy seeing over 40 lit displays. Visit Santa in his North Pole Cabin #1, every Friday night and enjoy hot cocoa and cookies with your friends and family.  Cost is $5.00/car


 

⭐ Winter Jubilee Light Show at Titletown Park/Plaza facing Lambeau Field. The show is seven minutes long, and plays every half hour from 6pm-9pm (starting on the hour + half hour) most Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from Nov. 29th -Dec. 28th.

 

Fox Cities Festival of Lights at Darboy Community Park.

November 29th thru December 14th – Fridays and Saturdays and everyday December 20th-31st.  All nights from 5pm-9pm

This a new annual event in Darboy. Visitors will be able to take a walk on the wooded trails through the park to see a wide variety of custom made light displays made from a variety of materials. Some of the displays will represent well known sites and destinations from the Fox Cities!

Parking will be on the east side of the park and at Sunrise Elementary School. The small parking lot next to the park shelter is for volunteers and handicap parking only!

 


 

⭐ Santa’s Rock n Lights at Brown County Fairground in De Pere.

November 22nd thru December 31st from 5pm-9pm

This is a drive thru Christmas light show experience. This is a totally new tradition in which the lights are animated to Christmas music instead of just your traditional still displays. We invite you to load up family and friends to watch the action of lights dancing to music all from the warmth of your car!

Admission is 20.00/car (Sun-Thur) and 25.00/car (Fri/Sat)

Starts Thursday Dec. 5th and runs at 6pm and 8pm every Thursday-Sunday night. Tune your radio to 89.5FM.

⭐ Brody’s Christmas Lights for Charity at 1874 Westbreeze Dr. in Oshkosh.  Show starts Nov. 28th thru Jan 1st from 5pm-10pm every night.  Brody is 10yrs old and has put together an enchanting light show set to music on 88.3FM.

⭐ These Lights Ruel on 149 Ramlen Court in Appleton. Thursday, November 28th thru December 25th  from 5:30pm-10pm. These Lights Ruel is a computer controlled animated Christmas light display.  ****Important Note**** – Drive around the court rather than turning around in the drive ways of the neighbors!

Christmas on Fox Street in Chilton.  November 29th thru December 31st from 4:30pm-9pm.   It is set to music and features 20,000 LED lights.

⭐ Rotter’s Family Christmas Lights at 796 Glory Rd. in Green Bay.  Open nightly from 5pm-11pm. Tune your radio to 99.1 and enjoy the show.

Holiday Light Display at W5989 Garnet Dr. in Appleton.  November 28th thru December 25th from 6pm-10pm daily.  Proceeds from donations help raise money to help fulfill life-affirming wishes for local children struggling with life-threatening medical conditions.

⭐ Brix Street Light Show at 86 Brix St. in Clintonville.  Show’s are daily starting November 28th thru December 24th.  5pm-9pm (Sunday-Thursday) and 5pm-10pm (Friday/Saturday).

Christmas Light Show at 6844 Shanty Rd. in Greenleaf.  Look for the Big Grinch! Show’s run daily thru the holidays from 5pm-11pm.  They are taking donations to support Saving Paws Rescue, just look for the donation jar.

⭐ Christmas Light Show at W7340 Earl Lane in Hortonville.  LOTS of lights and music.

⭐ Main Street Lights Show at 258 E. Main St. in Hortonville.  Tune radio to 90.7 FM and watch the lights dance to music .  Start date is pending but runs every night from 5pm-10pm.

⭐ The North Pole at 1020 Prospect Lane in Kaukauna Industrial Park.

November 28th thru December 31st from 6pm-9pm.  New is an Ice cutting house, A General Store with elves, and a North Pole Warming center where people go inside and get warm and watch the Polar Express movie and just rest and also a new North Pole Village Square.   **** This is free but -please leave a donation.

⭐ Frosty’s Festival of Lights at 1434 Daisy Drive in Manitowoc.  Starts Thanksgiving night thru Christmas. 6:30pm-10:30pm on Friday and Saturdays and 6:30pm-9:30pm Sunday thru Thursday.  They are taking donations for the Shop with a Cop Program.  Tune to 89.7 to enjoy the music and lights.

⭐ TR Light Show at 2314 42nd Street in Two Rivers.  December 1st thru 31st from 5pm-10pm every night.

Ryford Street Light Show at W6065 Ryford St. in Menasha. Light show with music.

⭐ 456 Crestview Rd. in Kaukauna.  25,000 lights timed to music, taking donations for St. Jude’s.

⭐ St. Mary Parish of Appleton, 312 South State Street, will present a series of window displays to tell the Christmas Story accompanied by music beginning the weekend of November 23-24. A Full Guide to Northeast WI Tree Farms.  Cut your own tree and enjoy creating some lasting memories with your family this year!

🎄 Bay View Tree Farm, 11132 County Line Rd.  Luxemburg

Open Daily after Thanksgiving through Christmas from 9am-4:30pm. Weekends will include special events thru Dec. 15th.  The warm log cabin will have hot chocolate and Santa Clause will also make special appearances in the log cabin Nov 29, 30, Dec 1, 7 & 8!  Baling service, wreaths and kissing balls available.


🎄 Hanauer’s Tree Farm, Intersection of Kathryn Rd. & Butternut Rd. in Shawano

Opens November 29th and weekends from 9am-4pm. They will shake and bale as well as help with loading the trees into your vehicle. They offer traditionally sheared Christmas Trees as well as lightly sheared, more natural looking Victorian Balsam and Fraser for a more old fashioned look.  The have Pre-Cut Trees, Potted Trees, Wreaths, Roping and other novelties available. Saws provided.


🎄 Golik’s Christmas Tree Farm, 988 Cross Road in Sobieski

Open Daily November 29th thru December 24th from 10am-6pm.  They have beautiful fresh wreaths decorated in many sizes and styles, tree stands and free boughs.  Saws and Baling provided.  Bring the entire family and enjoy this great time of year by creating memories to last forever.


🎄 Balsam Creek Lane Tree Farm, E8762 Silver Creek Rd. in Bear Creek

Open November 29, 20 and December 1, 7, 8, 12 and 15 from 9am-4pm.  Cut your perfect Christmas Tree.  Shaking and Baling provided.  Purchase Wreaths, Boughs and Roping. Visit with Santa from 12pm-3pm and enjoy some refreshments!  A great Family day!


🎄 Tannenbaum Hills, 18732 Church Road in Kiel

Open Weekends (Saturday and Sunday Only) after Thanksgiving from 9am-4pm. Cut your Own Tree. They have Shaking, Baling, Wreaths, Garland, Boughs, Tree Stands and Gifts/Crafts.


🎄 Taylor’s Trees, 1505 Hwy 147 West in Mishicot

Open November 29-December 1, Dec. 6-8 and 13-15 from 9am-4pm on Saturdays and Sundays and 12pm-4pm on Fridays. Free Shaking and baling of trees.  Fresh cut trees, wreaths and boughs available for purchase. Saws are provided.


🎄 Waupaca Christmas Tree Farm, E1274 Hwy 54 in Waupaca

Open November 16-17, 23-24 and 29-30.  December 1, 7-8 & 14-15 from 9am-4pm.  They offer Baling, Refreshments, Tractor Rides, a Gift Store, Wreaths, Garland, Free Boughs, Tree Stands and are “Dog Friendly”.

Open November 29-Dec. 1. December 6-8, 13-15 and 20-22 from 9am-4pm.  Cut your Own Trees, saws provided.   They offer Baling and Wreaths.


🎄 Whispering Pines Tree Farm, 3694 Airport Rd. in Oconto

Open Daily from 9am-4:30pm from November 29th – December 24th. Free horse-drawn wagon rides, hot cocoa and a charming Christmas shop with wreaths, garland, boughs, and holiday gifts/crafts can be found at Whispering Pines. Don’t miss a visit from Santa either! Lots of great things to do and see!

Open November 16-17, 23-24, 29-30.  December 1, 5-8, 12-15 and 19-21 from 9am-4pm.  Shaking, baling, refreshments, tractor rides, large Country Christmas store, “dog friendly”, wreaths, garland, boughs, tree stands.


🎄 Aissen Tree Farm  E1105 State Hwy 29 in Luxemburg

Open Daily November 18th – December 24th from 9am-7pm.   Shaking, baling, wreaths, kissing balls, & garland handmade on premises, boughs, tree stands, saws provided, gift shop includes antiques, over 5,000 ornaments, gifts and custom made orders, life-size Gingerbread playhouse, free hot chocolate and cider. Free wagon rides and hot food are available on weekends.

Cut your own Christmas trees the weekend after Thanksgiving through December 23rd.  Monday to Thursday from 12pm-4:30pm and Friday’s and Saturday’s from 8am-4:30pm.


🎄 County H Tree Farm, 8674 County Road H in Sturgeon Bay

Open Friday, Saturday & Sunday, November 29-30, December 1, 6-8, 13-15 from 8:30am – 4:30pm! They are a family run farm offering cut-your-own and pre-cut trees.  Fresh wreaths are made daily and displayed outside on their unique gift shop.  The gift shop is filled inside with handcrafted items, ornaments & Christmas gifts along with free hot chocolate and candy canes.


🎄 Trudell’s Tree Farm, 6418 Allen Road in Sobieski

Open from 9am-4pm on Weekends starting November 29th thru December 22nd. Shaking, baling, saws provided. Wreaths, boughs, tree stands.

Friday, November 29th thru December 24th.  Monday – Friday 10am-8pm and Saturday/Sunday 8am-8pm.

Opens the weekend before thanksgiving until Christmas.  Saturday – Sunday 10am-4pm.  They offer Baling, wreaths, boughs, garland, tree stands.


🎄 North Countree Christmas Trees, N10965 Schlies Rd. in Wausaukee.  Open daily after Thanksgiving; dawn to dusk.  Cut your own.


🎄 Edwardson’s Tree Farm, 7230 S. Chase Rd. in Sobieski.  Opens November 29th.
